The experience
A mild winter by the sea, at an easy pace.
Winter on the First Coast is genuinely mild by any non-Florida standard: average December temperatures run in the mid-60s, and beach walks are pleasant through January and February. The historic district of St. Augustine empties of summer visitors and becomes a quieter, more local version of itself — and winter rental rates are the lowest of the year.
Settle in at St. Augustine Beach or Crescent Beach for long, quiet walks on the sand, or at Jacksonville Beach for more restaurants within reach.

- St. Augustine's Nights of Lights, mid-November through January.
- Birding at Guana River State Park from September through April — roseate spoonbills winter in the marshes.
